Award winning Archi-Structure of Yorkshire are probably the UK’s leading Mosque designers and have designed many Mosques (80 plus) throughout the UK.
Archi-Structure offer a full range of services in the fields of Architectural, Structural, Civil, Project and Contract Management, Geotechnical Engineering, design, surveys, option appraisal, planning supervision, alterations, extensions, repairs, refurbishment and new build to provide a comprehensive integrated, approach to large and small projects alike.
The practice is equipped with structural analysis programs to enable cost-effective designs to be prepared rapidly and the effect of changes to be speedily assessed. All drawings are produced using Computer Aided Design and Detailing (CADD) software.

We are probably the UK's leading designers for Mosques and Islamic Schools. Our work and projects covers areas as far away as Glasgow. Mr Al Samarraie is the author of one chapter on Mosque design in the "Metric Handbook-Planning and Design Data" published by the Architectural Press. This publication is the industry standard for Architects, Engineers, Planners, etc., and serves as an invaluable tool for any project.
About Atba Al-Samarraie (Al Samarraie)
I am the author of the chapter on Mosque Design in the Metric Handbook (published by the Architectural Press – see below), the leading book on planning and design data for all Architects, Engineers, Planners and Designers (7th Edition – 2022).
My work on Mosques in Leeds was also documented in the English Heritage publication “Religion and Place in Leeds” in 2007.
My designs have been noted in many publications such as the “Places of Worship Selection Guide for Listed Buildings” published by English Heritage in April 2011.
Most recently, my work was documented by the recent Historic England publication (2018) “The British Mosque: An architectural and social history”.
With a focus on mosque & community projects design & delivery over the past several years, Al Samarraie has successfully completed numerous projects. Among his recent notable designs the Raza Jamia Mosque & Centre (Accrington), Suffa-Tul-Islam Jame Mosque & Centre (Bradford), Birmingham Central Mosque (Birmingham), Madinat Al-Zahra (Bradford), Sheffield Grand Mosque and the new ISSA Mosque & Community Centre (Blackburn).
I have contributed to many publication in various technical journals including a case study on the “Madina Mosque,” Sheffield publication in the DZINE Magazine, UK Construction (Brierfield Mosque, Nelson), Church Building Magazine (Bilai Mosque, Leeds), Rochdale Observer (Central Mosque, Rochdale), Builder & Engineer, the Sunday Times & Yorkshire Life.
I have also has taken part in various Radio interviews (BBC Radio 2 and 4) including a Q&A session on the Jeremy Vine Radio 2 programme. I also appeared on local TV news and have taken part in a TV documentary for Religious Building in the Community as well as taken part in a TV programme, “Selling Houses with Amanda Lamb” which was aired on channel More4.
